any road is good to car jack my recollection of the roads mentioned where suitable mostly dark and not many people or traffic about I would have to say most of the roads mentioned were ideal for carjacking what does anybody else think

I totally agree with you, the roads this lady was driving along are ideal for this type of crime.

I read her post. She didnt go into detail. It was a suggestion.

Not wishing to detract from the point, whether there was something or nothing in what happened, I stated my exact route - what did I miss? :loopy:

Anyway, as I said it's reported now. If it's important I'm sure the Police will look into it. If it isn't, then they won't.

Good for you for reporting it - I would have too. I would have also done exactly as you said, lock the doors and get my mobile ready for calling for help. As a lone female driver something like this can be really intimidating. There is no way in hell I would have pulled over for any amount of flashing, I would do as you did and check my car over when I got home. If they were an unmarked police car etc (which obviously they weren't), I would have pulled over if they had done the whole lights/siren thing, but would not have unlocked my door or wound down my window fully until I saw full ID. Any police man would see this as a perfectly valid request and a responsible thing to do.

Well done. You did the right thing. Also worth a mention is a new car jacking scam where they stick a sheet of paper on the rear windscreen of a parked car (where the boot is facing a wall). The unsuspecting driver begins to drive off then notices the paper in the rear view mirror, stops the car and gets out to remove the paper. Waiting nearby, the jackers strike while the engine is still running. Also worth remembering that every time we get into our cars there is always the 'potential' for violent conflict. Keep your guard up.

Oh FFS youre all a bunch of paranoid nutters. At best they were peed off because she cut them up. At worst - a couple of idiot kids messing about. End of Story.

Glad to see the fear of crime hasnt overtook common sense in Sheffield:loopy: :loopy:

In which case they are clearly not mentally mature enough to be let loose in charge of a motor vehicle like the grown ups are, so need taking off the road.

It gives carjackers a new idea though :|

As for locking yourself in the car, not such a great idea if you were in an accident, injured and you were unable to get out, or people were unable to get in and help.

Lock them when you are stationary by all means, but I wouldn't do it whilst driving.
