Recommended Posts

Hi all!

This must sound absolutely crazy but I got this computer as all the specs and functions it had to offer were what I needed but I just don't know what the DVD rewriter function on it is for!! What can you record on a computer??

Many thanks!!

It's there so you can write data to DVD's as well as CD's (which hold less data).

Being rewritable means that you can reuse the same CD or DVD instead of it just being a single hit.

you can only reuse them if you buy rewritable disks though.

Just think of a dvd-rw in the same way as a cd-rw. The difference being, as tony said, is that it holds a lot more information. I think that dvds have a capacity of about 4.5 Gb compared to a cds capacity of 700 Mb (nearly 6 1/2 times more).

*please feel free to correct me on the figures people.
