Was the Egg Box building a Sheffield landmark?

Recommended Posts

I've heard the hole in the road mentioned on here a few times, and quite rightly so it was a landmark of our city, but was the old Egg Box building in the Peace Gardens another Sheffield feature that should have remained?

Personally I think it looks far better now and don't really know why I'm starting such a debate.

The eggboxes sucked it looks better now, but only cause its more modern, ive been to the winter gardens once and doubt i will ever set foot in the place ever again. I dont know what all the fuss is all about its just a large greenhouse with a few plants in.

The egg boxes were a landmark, but not all landmarks are good ones.

Exactly.

The Staten Island rubbish tip is a landmark (it's the largest man-made object anywhere in the world) ... but nobody wants to see it. Something being well-known is no reason at all for it to be kept.
