Berino17
Ok, so I'm hoping to go away to the canaries for a couple of weeks during March/April time. I've been to Lanzarote & Fuertuventura, & fancy going to either Tenerife or Gran Canaria this time as I've never been to these 2 before. If any of you have been to both of them, or just know alot of info on them or something, which of the 2 would you rather go to & why? I'm basically asking for which of the 2 would you reccomend? Thanks B-
weenireeni
ive only been to gran canaria - went there in july, but OH who came with me has been to both and he loved GC beautiful beaches, great night life, great day trips, shops, restaurants. what kind of holiday are you after? if youre after clubs etc stay in play del ingles, but if you want quiet then puerto mogen (Sp!) is nice - we went on a catamaran cruise there and it was v idyllic im sure tenerife is lovely too though - and doesnt that have safari park? purdyamos
Hi, I've never been to either, but an evening on the rum has made me bold! A few years ago I read heaps of travel books through being too poor to actually go anywhere, and from what I could glean about the Canary Islands, Gran Canaria had the most varied range of landscapes and environments compared to all the other islands. It had a bit of everything, and that was what appealed to me if I ever had enough dosh to actually get there.
Berino17
Hehe thanks for the advice so far! ive only been to gran canaria - went there in july, but OH who came with me has been to both and he loved GC beautiful beaches, great night life, great day trips, shops, restaurants. what kind of holiday are you after? if youre after clubs etc stay in play del ingles, but if you want quiet then puerto mogen (Sp!) is nice - we went on a catamaran cruise there and it was v idyllic im sure tenerife is lovely too though - and doesnt that have safari park? Well as much as I would love to go to clubs etc, the person I'm going with would probably do nothing but moan about the noisy nightlife!! So I suppose I'm looking for somewhere tranquil (how fun!! haha ) but not too far from somewhere with some decent nightlife for some nights out etc... but by tranquil I mean there has to be some life there! (The place we went when we went on holiday last time was pretty much dead & more of a resort for an older generation & had a piffling lil bit of an imported beach!)... & I'd like it pretty close to a decent beach! weenireeni
well maspalomas is pretty quiet, but near enough to walk to nightlife - which may be your restaurants, and english pubs everywhere in gran canaria is near other areas, and the taxis are quite cheap. you'll love it
Grandad.Malky
It’s some years since we went to Tenerife but we hated it. Timeshare touts everywhere, I hope you’ve got a thick skin and don’t mind constant harassment. After the timeshare have finished the club touts will start, have a nice holiday, you’ll need another when you get back.
