mat1978
You know what I mean, youve paid for stuff at the checkout and you're waiting for your change. At what point or amount do you say, "Its fine - put in the box/keep it etc etc" I always seem to get those awkard moments when she's fumbling about for your 3 or 4 pence, you look around at everyone seems to be staring and thinking, "tight t**t"- what do you do? Is there a set amount you would 'let go' under 5p for example? Or should you always wait for your penny? Perhaps its just me..... AJ sheffield
They can keep my change whenever it contains coppers, they are banned from my pocket as excessive weight.
Helly
Always get your change back, unless you're in a rush. Leaving judt a few pennies is seen as more offensive then leaving nothing at all.
weenireeni
i never say keep the change unless its a taxi driver - and even then it depends if hes been nice! i save all my pennies up in a bottle, then when it comes to emptying them ive saved lots of money without noticing

I dont leave mine as a charitable donation to hard up shopkeepers, I leave mine due to being idle and not wanting a pocketful of crap copper. Vrsaljko
If it's under 5p I usually say keep the change. If I'm owed 5p I usually wait for it unless I'm in a good mood, or shops have those staff Christmas box things.
CHOIRBOY
I usually take the change and then put all 5p 2p & 1p in may Childrens Society box at home.
Heyesey
A common practice in the USA, at least in corner stores and suchlike if not in the Wal-Marts, is to have a penny dish (there are no 2-cent coins) ... if your bill comes to, for example, something-and-three-cents, the shopkeeper will take 3 pennies from the dish, and if you're due something-and-three-cents change, you put the 3 pennies *in* the dish. Not everyone does, of course, but there's VERY few people who don't go along with it. Could this work over here?
happyhippy
All my 5, 2, and 1p coins go into a jar, and then get cashed into my kids' bank accounts. You'd be surprised how much they end up having as a result you know.
