liam1412
Over the christmas period my computer broke. I was typing away and My neck was starting to hurt so I moved the monitor a little. There was then the most horrendous high pitched whine and my monitor blew up (this is an old 14" CRT.) I managed to get a replacement monitor. Plugged it in. Loading up everything is fine. The windows XP loading screen works fine. When it flicks to the windows xp welcome screen the screen goes all blurred then fuzzy then it just goes weird with the xp logo been replicated across the screen about 4 times with lines through and fuzzy screen. Do we reckon that my graphics card has gone or have i Just got another faulty monitor
neeeeeeeeeek
The new monitor can't cope with the refresh rate. Boot into safe mode (f8 on start up), select safe mode. Right click on the desktop background, select properties, settings, advanced, monitor, drop the refreh rate down to 60Hz. Click apply. reboot as normal. Should work. Then buy a better monitor!
