Gemima
It could be a hormone imbalance, how old is your cat as mine started with this at 12years old? I took her to the vet as she was also developing bald patches and I had to argue my case as the vet was convinced it was a flea allergy. (I am strict in my flea control as I have 3 dogs too, so was adamant)! After a bit of arguing the vet agreed to do more tests and she is now on a hormonal drug called Ovarid and we have never looked back. She does have the occasional scab but the hair has stopped falling out. I have since learned of two other cats with the same condition. Dont let the vet fob you off as it could be the same thing. Yellowrose
When our cat had a skin problem, the vet scraped is skin onto a slide and looked in the microscrope and was able to make a diagnosis straight away. That was the PDSA too. It turned out that he was just really sensitive to the one or two fleas he had, even though he had been treated. It wasnt scabs though, it was bald patches that he chewed. Now he has a more thorough flea regime and it doesnt happen. I find scabs on one of our cats too, but the pair of them are always having little scraps and lying in ambush for each other, even though they are 13!! bluesandtwos
sounds like a flea allergy. Our black tom is prone to it too.
