Biscuit
Hi, just wondering if anyone have any idea where and how he is. Pete, with his wife lived around the Popple/Lloyd/Robey Street. Along with another guy, they ran a mobile disco which focused on jazz funk and disco. I remember he was very much into imports so we got to here some cracking dance tunes. I know he was involved in some of the jazz funk nights in town (vague recollection of nights held where Rebels nightclub used to be on Dixon Lane!!). He was also played a regular slot on Fridays at Earl Marshal youth centre which attracted us young funkers from all over Sheffield. He was also making inroads on the Northern alldays scene. I'll never forget one disco in the upstairs room at the Firth Park Hotel and we thought the floor was going to cave in due to the sheer vibration caused by the amount of people dancing. Anyway, Pete and his wife sold up and headed to London and that is that last I know. He may remember me as Herbie (slight passing resemblence to Herbie Handcock and the fact I was learning to play keyboards).
PopT
I remember Pete Girtley when he worked as a Lubrication Attendant in the steelworks. At that time he lived in Wincobank. I bought quite a few records from him shortly before he moved to London. He got a job as a Baggage Handler at Heathrow but I do not know where he is now. Happy Days!
