Lestat
Watched the Milton Keynes concert by T4 the other day and got to admit I was impressed by the Pet Shop Boys. Their tunes are still kickin' ass all these years later, it was funny when Neil Tennant mentioned an oldie classic: 'West End Girls' and all the teeny-boppers just stood there wondering what he was on about.... They seemed to love it though afterwards! The song 'Minimal' they sang - thought it was excellent! and the one that will always remind me now of England crashing out of the world cup was also a PSB one, BBC1 played it after the match called 'Numb' - Top tune! I think where others have lost it - they've still got it y'know! Rock on Boys!! Have a look at PSB Song Minimal here!

I liked 'West End Girls', and maybe one or two others from the late 80s. I thought they lost it when they covered 'Always On My Mind'. I don't recall much else of theirs. How do you work out they've been going for three decades? 'West End Girls' was about 85ish, wasn't it?

Okay, almost 3 decades then LOL! They actually started in 1981, to begin with they called themselves West End; later they came up with the name Pet Shop Boys, a name derived from some friends who worked in a pet shop in Ealing. "We thought it sounded like an English rap group".
Chris_Sleeps
I like them purely on the basis that they aren't cool, and don't even try to be. I read an interview they did in Uncut and gained a lot of respect for them, they've not let the music industry inflate their egos, which is always nice to see. As for their music its like a lot of long-running bands, done some good stuff and some absolutely terrible stuff.
Fudbeer
They are one of those bands that I dip into now and again but still think there songs have aged well particularly like some of the less mainstream tracks my favs are rent being boring so hard (love the line "weve both given up smoking cause its fatal so whos matches are those " which neil delivers in his unique way. neeeeeeeeeek
All this coming from a guy who thinks Michael Jackson aint just a dodgy perv so you may forgive our scepticism. Got to say the old stuff was class but then they really lost it for a while... Not sure where they are at the moment. my brother still has all the early 12inches and they were just great. BasilRathbon
Been my favourite band for the last 20-odd years, even if they have lost their way slightly over the past few years. They're still all about strong melodies, intelligent lyrics and contemporary beats though; it always amazes me that no younger bands seem to exist in their genre. As pop grows ever blander and more formulaic, they're one of the few remaining bands who have their own distinct sound.
slimsid2000
It's a well known fact that at least 90% of all boy band members are secretly gay.
