I,ve been off work for about one month with a slipped disk, I only work part time but have always paid full stamp, I've just got my wage slip and I've been paid a set ammount statutory sick pay, but then my employers have deducted the hours I've been off from it, leaving me with appox £120,I've looked on the DSS webb site and it says ssp is £70 per week,so is that right that My employers deduct from that. TeaFan Posted December 23, 2006 Share Posted December 23, 2006 If you only get SSP and no occupational sick pay, you will only be paid SSP for the time you are off sick, starting from the 4th day of any period of sickness. Unfortunately, SSP is not much. If it doesn't leave you with enough to pay rent, council tax etc. I would see about a housing and/or ctax benefit claim. elora* Posted December 23, 2006 Share Posted December 23, 2006 also, SSP is only paid for 5 days a week, not 7, so what you have is probably about right, speak to the BA/DSS about whether you are entitled to any more benefit, as now that your work pay has ended you may be entitled to more from the state... ChrisTodd Posted December 23, 2006 Share Posted December 23, 2006 Are you paid weekly or monthly? I'm assuming monthly. SSP is paid at £70.05 per week after the 4th day of your sickness. The daily rate varies depending on the number of days you work a week so you always get £70.05 per week. So for your first month off you could get £280.20 in SSP. This will almost certainly be added to by a tax refund. Without knowing what your contract says it is difficult to know why you have only received £120, as you should be paid £70.05 per week without any deductions for hours not worked. http://www.c-todd.com Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

MARY POPPINS Posted December 23, 2006 Author Share Posted December 23, 2006 Well I think I've been short changed here I work 27 hours per week, and I only got £120 for the month, I did set off with more, but on my wage slip my employers, have deducted over £100, and put unpaid hours, sick leave, its looks like I'm paying them to be off sick, I'll certainly be ringing wages dept or the DSS on Wednesday.
