Merry Christmas parents of SF

I was just thinking that I am really looking forward to Xmas Day with my girls. They're almost 14 months and this Christmas will be such a difference to the last.

We had to erect a fireguard around our tree, so determined are our girls to strip our tree of it's decorations and chocolates, furthermore the gifts below are not safe. So in order to preserve the gifts as surprises we have put up said fireguard.

Well, Twingle 2 in her ingenuity has climbed, circus act style onto the rocking horse which was casually stashed beside the firguard one evening whilst we reclaimed the lounge for adult use. I walked in after a moments absence to find her stood balanced on the back of the horse and reaching over the guard to the tree in a desperate bid to claim tree treasures. At 13.5 months I'm quite impressed.

Their combined efforts are very determined, a double force bent on shaking the fireguard to pieces and carefully co-ordinated between the two of them for maximum effect, it's good but not good enough to defeat the Mummy!

I have no doubt that come Monday the wrapping paper and unhindered access to the tree will be the highlights for our girls, rather than the carefully chosen gifts generously given by loving family and friends. But, I can't think of anything better to look forward to.

I wish the merriest of Christmases to all you parents, old or young who will enjoy Christmas with your children and grandchildren, I feel fortunate to be amongst you.

(And yes I have had a drink *hic* and yes it is the first night out with friends and not partner since girls *hic* were born but my sentiment does not change one iota! Hic!) Cherry Mistmas :D

Merry Christmas to all!

I was wondering whether to "fence" off the tree as when we first put it up our 12 month old was stripping it as quickly as we trimmed it. We told her no many times and for the rest of that day she continued to do it. But then the novelty wore off and now she is leaving it alone. We dont put any gifts under it until Father Christmas comes, so no worry there. Also we replaced all our baubles with unbreakable ones.

My three year old is the perfect age to appreciate the Christmas season for the first time and we`re really making the most of it,and this time next year, Ill have another little monster who will be 9 months old and alert enough to notice all the fuss.

I have a 10 year old daughter in Sheffield who I phone regularly and shes having a whale of a time too, which is sad because Im missing it, but as long as shes happy-which she is, then Im happy too.

Have a wonderful Christmas everybody and make the most of your kids time in this season, they grow out of it far, far too quickly!
