Star24*
I also pick up my doggy poos but do have a question! How come horses are allowed to poo anywhere?! Shouldn't the onwer be made to pick it up or shovel it to the side of the road? I know it's also used as manuer-(not spelt right i know!) but it does anoy me when I my dog gets a wiff and i have to chase after her or she starts eating it....Or when my car gets splatered by it! kdo01
Totally agree with all the comments. Living in Woodseats myself am sick and tired of stepping on to my street outside my house and facing great piles of c**p! Have small child too who does not alwys see they are walking. It's stomach churning.Happened so many times, rang council to put up posters - no joy so will stick up my own poster next time it happens. Is this a bad idea?confused:

I've always wondered about that too. Would horses become dangerous if their riders dismounted to shovel their manure away? I come across dog crap much more often than horse poo, maybe that has something to do with it?

Is this a bad idea?confused: Well we have a caravan on the east coast, and I resorted to putting a poster in my van window, asking anyone who let their dog foul the grass round my van to pick it up. I have a seven year old daughter, who obviously likes to play outside the caravan. Why should we put up with the dog poo? I also have provided bags, if they use the lame 'i havn't got a bag' excuse. WallBuilder
What I can never understand is the manner in which some dog owners will stand looking the other way as their dog on a lead poops on the pavement. Max has been trained that he is only allowed to go in certain area's although I do carrya few bags just in case there's an accident. I have a sneaky feeling that there is a new resident with a large dog somewhere on or near Woodseats road as the railway bridge down at the bottom seems to be a favorite pooping spot. There used to be an old guy on Aisthorpe road who would walk through Woodseats and his dog loved to take a dump right outside my friends cafe, not very nice. Needless to say this happened once too often and boy did he get a telling off [the owner that is]

Most of the time, you see this on the road, and as most people walk on the pavement, I suppose its not as bad a problem as dog poo. Don't think it carries the health risks either does it? I don't know, will stand corrected of course if it does! Jayne
Jillybabes
I always clean up after my dog and it drives me mad when I see another dog pooing and the owner just walks away leaving it for somebody to step in, its just down right idleness, it takes nothing to carry a few nappy bags in your pocket, its not disgusting either as some people think cos you aint touching anything dirty, im disgusted by the amount of dog muck round here and sometimes there are just piles of it, must be a great big dog to produce so much, i dont care how much mess they make owners should still clean up after their dogs!!!! I think that it boils down to the fact that horse poo isn't dangerous and dog poo carries quite a lot of nasty bugs and bacteria. And besides roses don't come up smelling of roses if you grow them in dog s***
Guest
I think that it boils down to the fact that horse poo isn't dangerous and dog poo carries quite a lot of nasty bugs and bacteria. ... Horse manure can contain bacteria such as that which causes tetanus. Then again, that's found in garden soil too. While I think the parasites which might be found in horse manure pose less of a threat to humans that those potentially found in dog poo, they can be harmful to other animals which might come into contact with the manure. Horse manure on the road can be a danger to cyclists and motorbike riders, as it's relatively easy to skid on it, especially if you encounter a pile of it after dark, when there's less chance of seeing it early enough to get out of the way. Not pleasant to clean off your tyres either.
