Carmine   10 #13 Posted December 21, 2006 There are 25 million practising Christians in India.. which is approximately 24 ¾ million more than here. Good point.  But what's so odd about an asian kid singing xmas carols in the UK?
 Share this content via...
noisyandy   10 #14 Posted December 21, 2006 She never mentioned racism, it was all of you that brought that up!!  Fair enough Magic, she may well just have been genuinely (and in a non-bigotted way) surprised to see Asian children singing Christmas carols. She probably assumed them to be Muslim as the vast majority of the Asian communities in Sheffield are, and wouldn't expect them to be joining in the Christmas celebrations. Which are all valid reactions, as I suspect a lot of people would be surprised by Muslim carol singers, much in the same way as Muslims might be surprised by Christians joining in the festivities for Eid.  I still stand by my point that they have a perfect right to join in Xmas celebrations if they so wish, without being viewed with suspicion. If I have in any way cast any unwarranted negative aspersions onto Suzan I apologise completely.
 Share this content via...

I understand these are sung in pubs in Bradfield, Stannington, Worral etc at this time of year. The rowdier and loder the better. Thanks you Claire   It's traditional that all visiting carol singers are given something to keep the cold away! Must be great night out. Harleyman   12 #17 Posted December 7, 2009 I like to go around singing carols outside the doors of Jehovahs Witnesses.  Sort of a way to get revenge for all the times they come knocking on my door Sunday morning when I'm fast asleep
 Share this content via...

bulldog D   10 #20 Posted December 7, 2009 But no doubt a free copy of the Watchtower along with a lecture on the error of my ways in celebrating Christmas  Still not convinced.............. I'd still be the one singing outside any dwelling with a "mulled wine available here" sign. That is until I fell over or had a bucket of water thrown over me. Thanks you Claire  They do this at the Royal Hotel in Dungworth every Sunday in December but it's so packed you can't get in easily, nor to the bar. I've seen people queueing outside before the pub even opens on Sundays mornings - it's like January sales used to be. They'll be out there the night before in sleeping bags before too long!
