RichC
I'm looking to get a new TV, which I would like to also double as a monitor for my Mac. I know you can get LCD TV/Monitor combo things, but does anyone have any recommendations? Cheap would be good, but not if it means the quality's going to be cack. sufc_tom
My recommendation is a Samsung Syncmaster 940mw. I have one and its great, despite the analogue tuner not working properly I rang their warranty customer care department who have arranged it to be replaced immediately. So I can vouch for their customer service too. Last time I checked they were on amazon at 250 and has a dvi connector which can be used for HD. mr chris
Dell's 24" LCD monitors are on offer at 25% off atm (£560ish). Given that they can do 1920x1200 and have composite/S-Video/Component (so you can hook an X-Box 360 up to it)/DVI and analogue connections there really isn't much you can't plug in to it. It' also capable of running full HD (1900(or is it 1920) x 1080p) if you get an HDMI to DVI adaptor. Most of these HD-Ready sets are a much lower resolution. After watching some full HD trailers on mine (apple.com), well, a change in underwear was needed I know there's a lot of opinions about Dell, but the standard of their displays is top notch. SpeedwayDan
we used to have a few dell crt monitors at work, the picture quality was excellent. but for the cheaper end, samsung are damn good. i heard a few problems about adjusting brightness and contrast with samsungs in the past, not sure what they're like now though. The custom setting for brightness contrast does take a bit of tweaking and its all down to preference, however on my 940mw its got preset themes one of which is 'cool' which is less colours but also not very dull Ps. I am not a Samsung salesman!
barny_100
Dell's 24" LCD monitors are on offer at 25% off atm (£560ish). Does anyone know how much longer the 25% off offer stands? I've finally decided after umming and ahhing over all sorts of LCD's to get this. The £50 saving would be nice but it's a bit of a funny time to order in terms of getting it delivered... Cheers EDIT: I've just seen it's the 27th December...

I also have one of these monitors and I'm very happy with it. It performs better as a monitor than a TV. The picture is pin sharp with good brightness. It's fast enough for games too. Space
I'm not a big fan of Dell PC's but I have to say that their monitors are excellent! I'm using one at work now and its one of the best I've seen. Not sure how fast they refresh though so if its for gaming, make sure it has an Ms Refresh rate below 10 if possible.
