i live just down the road from lane top, i will keep my ears and eyes open. bet they dont get caught though, a few years ago my parents lived on foremark road and they were burgled on a sunday afternoon, they took the stuff through the living room window and no one saw anything, they took the usual things but my dad thought it was funny when he realised the video recorder they stole wasnt working.

hmm...

Don't know if this is linked, but my sisters house, in Firth Park, was burgled. They also took jewellery and some cash. Nothing else. They broke in from the kitchen window. Another house on her road was burgled the same day, they took similar items.

Seems someone is very busy.

Switch those burglar alarms on, and put the money in the bank people.

was this recently and what road does she live on? i live on north quadrant. ive got an alarm and dont always put it on, will do now though. i have a labrador dog, he has a nasty bark, but is soft as anything, he would lick a burgler rather than bite one.

oh forgot to say, money isnt always safe in the bank, a postman emptied my account of over £2000 a couple of years ago after he kept my new bank card and then waited for the pin number.

do any of these people have burglar alarms? as we do but am now worried incase thay dont take notice. though i often say if some1 breaks in there more likley to leave us something as dont really have anything of value, though the trauma of some1 going through your stuff is enough.

Just to let you all know,if you think this is relevent,a 14 year old boy was today arrested, near lane top working mens club. This boy was arrested for breach of bail conditions, but he is suspected of commiting a number of burglaries in the lane top area.I only know this as i was visiting a relative in the area when the police arrested him, might not be the one who burgled the affor mention property but you never know.Obviously i dont know his name but if it was him then he wont be spending christmas at home.(serves the little git right).

Never knew of this kind of scam. hmm..

Most people dont really bother if they hear someones alarm going off. They think, it'll go stop after a bit. I have given my number to next door neighbours and told them if the alarm EVER goes off, just ring me.

Double glazing windows are pretty easy to break into with a crowbar. Nothing is safe these days. Burglars and all other criminals need tougher punishments so that they and other possible criminals think twice before doing such a crime.

i lived on and around shiregreen & firth park for over 40 years and i moved away a few years ago being tired of joy riders & houses being robbed.this use to be a brill place to live but sadly it has gone right down hill.i now live a long way from shiregreen & wild horses would not drag me back.i even talked to a police officer who was tring to get his old mum off that estate .[shame there is some nice people still living there but for how much longer?]

Just to say that when Burguar Alarms go off people dont try and help they do the opposite and slap you with a ASBO.
