Hi, always had Orange / Vodafone but know someone who has seen a good package with T-Mobile? Was wondering what your thoughts were on quality of reception (particularly Frecheville area) generally, compated with Orange / Vodafone, and whether they should switch ? Cheerz in advance.

Hi

I recently switched to T-Mobile from Vodafone and I think their service is better, and the monthly packages for minutes is a lot better too.

I can't say what the reception is like in your part of town, but I've not had any reception problems anywhere so far.

I'd say make the switch.

Just check reception quality using this tool on T-Mobile's own website. Frecheville area in general looks OK, but I moved into a shack in the looming shadow of Brincliffe Edge and reception disappeared, forcing me to jump to the Orange ship. Other than that, I was very happy with T-Mobile. Your other option is to ask a friend or relative on T-Mobile what their reception is like when they're round your way, as the resolution on that coverage map is conveniently coarse...

I'm not sure about Frecheville, but in Nether Edge, the reception was extremely poor. To receive or make calls, I used to have to go up into the attic, or go out onto the street! Stupidly, I passed the 14 day return guarantee and was stuck with it for 12 months. Never again!

Also beware of the reception checking site, it gives a 'good' grade for my area. If you decide to go for it, do remember the 14 day trial period; if it isn't satisfactory, you're entitled to give it back.

I've switched T-Mobile after 12+ years with Orange cos the data deals are so good. And is their customer service - I haven't had to ring it yet!

With ANY network there are going to be spots where reception is poor. T-Mobile were historically the last network to get set up so are often perceived as not having as good coverage as, say, Vodafone. The facts have changed and they're now at least as good as the other big operators.

Best advice is to take advantage of the 14 day return policy (make sure you buy from a reputable retailer).

Their customer service is none existent, a bit like their reception, we wrote them letters, which they didn’t even acknowledge let alone act on.

We returned the phone to their store at Meadowhall who sent it away for it to be “repaired”, yet it was still the same because the assistant had filled in the paperwork wrong , so much for reputable dealer.

After the 14 days they don’t want to know you. :suspect:
