Do you follow religion because:

A. You believe that that God exists and hence follow the religion to appease said God. As you believe appeasing God may benefit you or others.

B. I don't believe in God but I follow religion because it offers a moral code that if I abide by will benefit me and others.

C. I don't really know why, I was raised that way.

IMO All God's are make believe, but I have no problem whatsoever if ppl follow a religion because it offers moral guidance or it gives them a sense of community or belonging.

I dont believe in any form of organised religion, and find it amusing that many people still do. Sitting in church for a christening on Sunday, listening to the vicar rambling on about being born into sin and dying in sin, one realises what a load of guff it really is.

Incidentally, is your avatar from an old Acorn Electron game called 'Citadel' ??

I'm glad someone else knows of 'Citadel'. I used to have it on a BBC. It was one of the first games I played, I must have been about 8 years old and it used to frighten me. I can see that the Evil Monk or what ever it is has made a lasting impression on you too. You can get a BBC emulator and pretty much any game you can remember for free.

My other favourites were 'Droid' and 'Elite'.

How about curiosity?! I'm contemplating having a bash at the old religious following game. I was christened as a baby into a christian faith, but have never really been to church, for the exceptions of funerals and weddings, and would like to go and check it out and see what it's all about. I'm totally undecided on religion at the moment and feel that going to a church and experiencing religion, first hand, would help me come to an informed decision etc etc..

To truly comprehend the meaning of faith(as opposed to religion) you have to feel it first -it has to come from the heart, not just because you enjoy the pageantry or feel its something you have to do.

Just my two penneth

I don't really understand what you're saying, Do you follow a religion or just have faith in general. But you're saying that you follow a religion because it feels right in your heart. You have no way of explaining further than this?

Hmm..I dont believe anywhere in my post that I said I followed a religion?

I do have faith yes, but I dont follow any organised religion-for me the simple act of belief is enough, I dont need Gods PR men to tell me what I should or shouldnt think or how I should worship.
