peardrops
We are thinking of flying to our friends in Brisbane. It will result in a 24 hour flight. How do you keep an 8 and 9 year old child happy for 24 hours? Has anyone done these flights before?

Draggletail
We did Manchester/Sydney last year with a six month old. It went suprisingly well with him. Doing it again shortly - he'll be eighteen months old ... we're hoping the TV will keep him happy, and taking an assortment of small toys, glove puupets. Good luck with your older ones.. hopefully the 'in flight entertainment' will keep them happy, videos, games etc. Oh, and I Spy .... something beginning with 'P'
pinklady
Ive done a 9 hour flight with 2 young uns .... the planes are quite well prepared, they've got LOADS of channels, loads of films to chose from, and a large selection of playstation games that can be accessed thru the tv (the personal telephones are also remote controls for the tv, and control panals for the playstation. .... my kids were fine it was me who hated the long haul, good luck. artisan
Flight should be arranged for people taking children with them. I recently had the misfortune to travel to Fuerteventura, sitting next to a couple with a baby. It was typical six seat across plane, and I was in the aisle seat, with my wife across from me. The window seats were occupied by a young man and woman, with a baby no more than a few weeks old. The poor child should not have been out of its nursery, never mind on an aircraft. It cried and performed the whole way, its parents were at a loss, but were very arrogant and would accept no advice, language being a problem. I must have changed my seat with the father ever 20 minutes as he tried to settle the child, the mother was just sitting staring out of the window. I am a Father and Grandfather myself, and would never put a baby through such a thing as a flight, until they are old enough to understand what the effects on them are.
