EdnaKrabappe
Cats. Cats are their own person (well cat) whereas dogs are too fussy for me. I also don't like wet dog smell. I don't have the time to take a dog for a walk. Don't dislike them but they are definitely not my animal. Cats please themselves and all have a distinct personality and are sooooo cute. medusa
The animals I feel most at home with are cats, but I'm not sure whether that's just because I've had more cats about than dogs. I'm part time auntie to a very very sweet puppy, and he's lovely too (apart from his ability to get incredibly muddy wherever we go).
Rich
I grew up with dogs in the house, but I think if I had my own pet, I'd have a cat, as cats don't need quite as much looking after as a dog, you don't have to walk them etc.
Moonbird
I think dogs may have the edge with me, but only because i have had a dog since i was tiny and i understand them so well, they are just so much a part of my world. But i also love cats and i have both ... so my vote was for both
melthebell
tbh i dont mind both however we have a cat, purely cos we dont have time to walk a dog and itd be cruel to leave it in the house all day alone, a cat spends most of its time outside doing what cats do we also have a couple of rats cant beat rats
jayne67
9 weeks ago I would have said cats, for definate, but after becoming a dog owner, I have to sit on the fence! Someone once said to me though, that they disliked cats because they were unclean, smelly flea bitten animals. I can honestly say that my cats are the cleanest, unsmelly, non flea bitten adorable cats. The dog, however, apart from the flea bit, smells, gets dirty, but is still adorable! Who says dogs are cleaner?? Jayne
Strix
The dog, however, apart from the flea bit, smells, gets dirty, but is still adorable! Who says dogs are cleaner?? Jayne It depends on the breed We can take King the Staffie and Brude the beagle on the same walk and when we get back, most of the mud has fallen off the beagle, but we have half a field of the stuff clinging to the staffie - though they both have short coats. If you have a breed prone to a manky coat, give it a once over with a damp spongy cloth once every couple of days I am definately a dog person, as we like our pets to share our lives properly, and I just can't see a cat mountainwalking

Lotti
Dogs for me. I love both but I personally get more companionship from my dogs than my cats who are quite happy doing their own thing and just let me know when they're hungry or fancy a fuss. The dogs keep me going, they make me get out into the world, they give me a challenge and keep me on my toes because they constantly test the boundaries. If I wanted an easy pet that was going to be trained once and do as I ask, I'd have a cat everytime because mine have all been good, well behaved pets but loving too. However, I don't just want that. I want a challenge too, I want a reason to get up and get out and experience the world that God gave us. My dogs provide me with that. I have cats who I love to bits, but if my situation allowed me to have either and I had to make the choice, it'd be a dog all the way.
