brian0812
how am i stupid theres a lot of bitching in sheffield about off road bikes a lot of cash is being spent to stop it so wye not give you a place to ride your bike in the first place so your not going to have police runing about chaseing the bike costing more cash i think your the stupid one
Deepak_S7
brian great idea lets cream off 20% of the schhold budget to build a track for you and your mates to ride bikes or if you dont fancy that then hike up council tax why do you expect the rest of us to fund your hobby? SpeedwayDan
it will never work, alot of the illegal off road riding is done on stolen bikes, or bikes not fit to ride on a proper off road moto-x track. also, as already mentioned, you would need transport to the track, as moto-x bikes (not trail bikes) are not road legal. plus, then you have the problem of where to site the track, as no property owners would want them too near to their houses due to noise pollution. then you have the huge insurance costs, all the money needed for first aid cover, track staff to properly supervise people, riders having to own all their own saftey equipment, which alot of illegal off road riders don't own. no matter what is done, you will never get rid of illegal off road bikers, there's plenty of legal facilities available not too far from sheffield as it is, but these kids/adults are happier on their bits of waste ground unfortunately. psyn
it is definitely a good idea obviously it wouldn't curb the idiot theives and lunatics but nothing aside from death generaly does. But why not? there's a lot of intrest in the sport and it's not exactly a hard thing to build a track is it? yeah okay the insurance and staff would cost something but that could be quite easily offset with membership/ admissions also if the place was good enough quality maybe events could be held there? bringing in income from tourists/ tv etc,and you never know it may steer a few wayward youths towards a more positve goal. as for the council funding your hobby the council SHOULD help give the people what they want. plus its an ideal place to send all the highway planners as they would love creating an enclosed one way system god knows the've had enough practice with the city centre. so no not a stupid idea at all is it.
