Mosherchik
Not been on here for ages, I cant remember how this interweb thing works Im in desperate need of help this Chrimble, recently been diagnosed with a wheat and dairy intolerance, and the best thing is Im intolerant to soya as well!!!!! The Chrimble treats are gonna be few and far between and racking my brains trying to think of adequate substitutes... and failing... Just been to TESCO, they rock!!! got a nice selection of wheat free goodies, not that theres anything festive about wheat free jam tarts!!! (they'd ran out of wheat free mince pies grrrr) My main issue is CUSTARD!!! I really want custard and christmas just isnt christmas without a trifle but there isnt anything I can use cos of the whole soya thing!!!! Holland and Barrett werent much use, they just stared at me blankly... but then most people do Any advice would be gratefully received, right now Im resigned to getting drunk in a corner at Chrimble which is also good, but distinctly lacking in custard!! Cant even have egg nog ffs!!!!

medusa
For custard just use custard powder, made up with goat or sheep milk. You can buy goat milk in most supermarkets, and dried sheep milk powder from Beanies.
Twiglet
Sorry but the wheat free or 'Free From' range pastry products (i.e. mince pies AND jam tarts) all contain Soya flour.

Mosherchik
Sorry but the wheat free or 'Free From' range pastry products (i.e. mince pies AND jam tarts) all contain Soya flour. Oh poo! Cant make up custard with the powdery stuff cos even that has actual milk powdery stuff in it!!! WAAAAAH! Think its gonna be a liquid diet this year!! oh well I might actually loose weight this Christmas for a change, especially as I cant have the baileys milkshakes anymore Just checked the apple pies, no soya huzzah, alas the choc cake does, but I suppose if i dont eat the whole thing in one go I should be fine!!! *fingers crossed* The works Chrimble do is coming up soon and pretty sure all the nasty things I cant have will be involved, so Im almost accepting the fact I shall have to eat things and be damned because no-one seems to cater for the intolerant type hey ho!! medusa
Oh poo! Cant make up custard with the powdery stuff cos even that has actual milk powdery stuff in it!!! WAAAAAH! No it doesn't- Bird's custard powder was originally made by Mr Bird for his wife who had food allergies. I think you're thinking of the instant stuff that you add water to. I mean standard custard powder that you add your own milk to. Oh- and BTW- when you get a craving for hot chocolate- Green and Blacks hot chocolate is vegan so you can add milk of your own choosing (like sheep, goat or rice milk).
