mummyjac
Does anyone else's bunny like eating dry cat food. Jazzy my son's rabbit loves to eat my cat's salmon, trout, tuna and shrimp food. It's a race to stop her getting to it.
sooz22
Our current foster bun Harley tries to get at ours but we dont let him eat it under any circumstances, its far too high in fats, proteins and carbs and could upset his digestive tract or worse. Twiglet
Rabbits and guinea pigs should never ever be able to get access to cat or dog food. Their bodies are designed to be strictly vegetarian and as such the food could cause them serious harm.
mummyjac
It doesn't seem to have had any adverse reaction to our bunny. Infact she seems to be alot healthier and doesn't suffer from funny tummys like she has with some rabbit food. I must stress though that we do stop her from eating the cat food. sooz22
Believe me it is not OK for a rabbit to consume meat proteins. Their bodies have a very specific and complex digestive process and no part of that process is designed to cope with meat proteins. 80% of domestic rabbits are fed incorrectly and hundreds die each year from gastro-intestinal problems linked to a poor or incorrect diet. (I understand you prevent her from eating such food but it is important that others are made aware of the implications because it can cause serious and fatal conditions).
