Shazbat
I know, I know ... but I searched and couldn't find the thread I was looking for! Anyhow, if you were either the Ford Ka or Vauxhall Astra (I think) who thought it was polite to park inches from my front and rear bumpers this afternoon on Broomhall Place, THANKS! Especially the Ka driver, as there was a good half-a-car-length between your back end and the end of the double yellows. When I got there at 7.55 this morning and did a perfect parallel park, there was room enough for me to get in and out without any difficulty. It took me 8 or 9 manoevres back and forth, and I've probably worn months off my tyres turning the wheels on the spot so many times, but I managed to get out of the space without so much as touching either of you or mounting the kerb. I make no apology for the notes on your windscreens - the first time I've EVER been driven to do it, but really the amount of space I was left with was bloody ridiculous and it's not like I have a big car either - except to say that they were much more polite than my friend who was with me suggested they ought to be. So, just for her, you're a pair of ********!

Beancounter
I totally agree - ******** just seems to really sum up some people - and it seems like it really applies in this case!
bobsyouruncle
There are some really pig ignorant motorists on the roads, especially when it comes to parking. We have a garage, but its seperate from the house, and set back from the road, most people just block off the entrance and park outside the garage, thus enabling me either not to be able to get in or out, I have spoken to the council regarding double yellows down the dropped kerb, but they want to charge me £95 for the words "Keep Clear", the area required to get in and out is only 10ft!! Jobsworths. cosywolf
I would never ever suggest anyone should do the following, or condone it, but it did make me smile a bit when I heard it (I am a bad person), and may make you feel a bit better in a malicious way...There are some people who you just shouldn't do these things to... A friend of mine, who can be somewhat lacking in scruples/conscience/or patience, depending on how you look at it, found himself blocked in as you say in what was clearly an intended way. So he merrily got in his car, started the engine, and bounced off both cars until he had moved them enough to drive off. Bad boy!

Phone the police on 2202020, they are very good at contacting the owners and if they can't then they will tow the vehicle away. I also (these days) keep a traffic cone in my driveway. When it looks likely that someone might block my drive (ie the road is busy or the football is on), i put the cone out. Generally this is enough of a clue for even the thickest person to notice and realise that I have a car in the drive they were about to block. Bad boy! thats what I used to do before I had a car that was worth more than scrap value. I wouldn't do it now though before anyone (ie Cyclone) starts going on about how two wrongs don't make a right and I ought to be prosecuted for criminal damage etc.
Gabriella
I haven't ever known a city like Sheffield for parking; sure, I've seen lots of inconsiderate parking in front of drives in many cities but most are considerate (or smart) enough to pull forward as much as possible, or just move on. People here often seem to try and park inconveniently; the number of times I've seen people park over two spaces near Psalter Lane Uni, especially along the road next to it is unbelievable, or on narrow roads park dead opposite driveways so that it requires drivers to do a manoeuvre rather than just simply pull out. rach2005
When people park across my drive just off granville road (which they do often!) I like to leave a note stuck on with brown packing tape... works a treat! As they rip it off in their embarrasment the layer of tape underneath stays put and stays there for a LONG time. the police never turn up before the cuprit has left!
