Rutland Arms Closing? (Nope, it's reopened!)

"The lovely Rutland is going to be closed down for good this friday (22nd) as the current

 

But, this Friday isn't the 22nd ... if it is, I've left it far too late to send my cards out this year :o

Just heard it's got nuffink to do with the council, although what's to stop them putting in an offer for some more fine 'luxury' city centre apartments.

The lease is on the market, and has been for about a year, as apparantly the guy that runs the place wishes to retire.

 

What I will say is the same as many pubs in these circumstances - USE IT OR LOSE IT!

I would list every pub in Sheffield (that dates back maybe around pre 1970) if I was in charge. I hate seeing pubs demolished(although that might not be the case here).

 

A perfect example of a pub not demolished and re-used is the Royal (1 Abbeydale Rd). Beaut building, and looks great now.

I've never actually been in. But it looks great. They've flattened the building next to it, which I can't remember, but would be a great shame if they flattened it too.
