MinxyKitten
I am interested in learning to play the sax, any ideas how much they cost roughly, and where to go for lessons. Would it be possible to teach myself? ????:
md25
An entry-level alto sax costs about £300; most people start out on these as they're fairly easy to handle. You will need a teacher, at least at first; you need to have some guy tell you how to get a good tone and to tell you all the arcane music theory you need to know, neither of which are easy. It takes a lot of effort to get decent at playing but it's well worth it Also, many music shops will rent you a sax for a few months for £50 or so, which is worth trying if you're not sure. MinxyKitten
Thanks for the advice. I have played the piano for years and have done grade 5 theory of music so I am not a complete ammature but i def agree I will need some tuition to get me going. Renting a sax is a great idea as it at least means I can try it out and see how I like it for a bit...!
Becky B
My old sax teacher was really good, if you want her details to see if she's got a space (or still teaching!) PM me...
md25
Ah you didn't say you knew music stuff already! Once you figure out how to make noise with it and what all the buttons do you'll be able to just, well, play, which is awesome!
