pdrnsf
E.g. with british gas/n power etc? If so, how much is it and do you think its worth the money. Just bought a house recently and not sure if i should think about getting some cover like this. Thanks in advance & Merry Christmas.

mrsb73
Hi there, I just renewed my Buildings & contents cover and took a similar policy in with the house insurance, although it is not as in depth as the Norwich Union policy it only cost an extra £9.95 for the year in with the policy. The Norwich Union one is about £7.95 per month I think. Just to add, I used to have my house insurance with Norwich Union, but renewed this year via the Bradford & Bingley website (as they act as broker) - I got full accidental damage on Buildings & contents for £230 for the year with Legal & General. Going direct via L & G was £330!!! just proves it pays to shop around for this type of stuff!

willman
i took one out which included a free boiler service, when i rang for an engineer to service the boiler they refused to do it until the summer of 2006. there wasn't a problem with the boiler but i wanted it servicing in october 2005. so i rang and cancelled the policy 'cos they weren't sticking to the rules. over 50% of people who were approached by a door to door group selling this type of policy were advised to replace their water cylinders when they had their initial assessment or they couldn't join the scheme. now am i being cynical or what. Whatif wewin
We have a an annual service agreement with British gas for our boiler. We believe it is best value. We are not getting energy from BG though that is poor value.
Cyclone
We have the british gas cover, everything except electrics. As we have a fairly old boiler I think it's worth it. They also came and sorted out a leak from under the bath recently (at 2300 on a friday night) and do a once a year test on the boiler to check it's all okay). Minesadouble
I have the British Gas cover For the Heating / Boiler .... Definately worth everypenny It's about £13 a month and they have always come out the same day or day after to repair / replace parts with any problem weve had ....I took it out once the kids were born and moved it from previous property to the new one....I would definatley recommend it. When you think these days a call out fee can start from anything around £50 and that's before any parts are replaced. Hope this helps
