Funky_Gibbon
Did anyone else go to The Last Laugh at the Roundhouse yesterday? I'm trying to find out the name of the second comedian they had on because he was pretty good. I missed it because one of the women I was with was shouting in my ear at the time. martin1print
I wasn't there, but please post any details of future shows as I enjoy stand up comedy. Is the place full of cigarette smoke?

As an asthmatic, I wish I had been told about the smoking before I went in, and been put on the end of the seating Roll on July 1st 2007! Or you could see exactly the same show for a fiver on a Sunday night at Shef Uni (oops i've given the secret away!) The cheesey mash is yum yum yum - no ifs or buts
lastlaugh
Hi The food's not bad at all now at the club, though it's not haute cuisine. We work with a very limited kitchen facility, so instead of trying to get away with stuff that we can't do we have a nice comfort food type of offering of things like bangers and mash, pie and peas, nachos, chilli, that kind of thing. It's about four pounds a time. As we work some changes into the venue, it may well be that we add a proper catering kitchen, which would change what we offerred. Or you could see exactly the same show for a fiver on a Sunday night at Shef Uni (oops i've given the secret away!) Well, it's not too much of a secret, we also program comedy nights for both universities in Sheffield, though we do try to make sure that we vary the acts around, so that people who want to go to more than one show a week can. The only act that appeared on Saturday night who went on to Sheffield Uni was Ian Moore, but to be honest he lives in France so we have to give him enough work to fly over. The smoking question is an interesting one. We don't think it'll affect bigger, weekend clubs like The Roundhouse, but similar legislation has closed smaller weekly clubs that get lots of regulars in Scotland and Ireland. Clubs like The Last Laugh at The Lescar. We did a questionairre at The Lescar a few months back, to find out whether we should go smoke free. 11 % of people said they would prefer it, 49 % said they weren't bothered either way and 40% said it would affect whether they came as much, because either they or the people they came with smoked. Funky_Gibbon
Thanks for telling me who that comedian was. I'm going to see if I can track down any recording of his stuff because I enjoyed it. As for smoking, there was some but I really didn't notice it. RobWilson
I'll be going back to the Lescar Last Laugh when it's all smoke free. I've got quite a few friends who stopped going to the Buzz in Manchester due to the smoke too.
