If anyone can recommend any free software that I could add to expand the page it would be very welcome Criteria is: Must be free, full version, no time limits or 'nag' screens. I have used Vim, it isn't for the average person that wants a notepad replacement.....it certainly takes a bit of mastering but, It's the best I've used....I was only likkle when I first found Vim.....I feel so old now.... Crimson Editor, did use this for a while, I preferred EditPlus...but this is shareware. I like Notepad++, Notepad2 and Metapad.

troyhark
A lot of people swear by irfanview http://www.irfanview.com/ it's used for looking at and sorting/handling images.
xircon
For editing scripts and programs I use a combination of ultraedit (free off a magazine disk, so I am only on v7 i think), Notepad++ and Scite. Last two are GPL. Ultraedit's main advantages over anything I have ever used is the ability to load from FTP and it has a wonderful column mode. Scite and notepad++ are based on the scintilla project and are equally as good as each other, I use notepad++ for batch files and Scite for autoit3 scripts. If anyone is looking for a good IDE the I would go for codeblocks. My main programming language is Visual foxpro v9, but I also use Harbour/xharbour/minigui for small standalone jobs.
