ELSoames
Am in the middle of making my own cards as I decided that I wasn't going to pay over a 100 quid for handmade cards, and that shop bought cards are boring. Has anyone else done this before? Am really pleased with the results so far and am hoping to do the place cards and thankyou cards myself as well. The first layer is gold script saying the wedding vows, next is pink handmade paper, then 3 cala lilies with 2 "gold" wedding rings on the top. What do you think? Thanks Emma
Strix
Beautiful I skipped the place cards and scripted everybody's name on a candle in a glass:) We painted names on silver sprayed pebbles for a friend's wedding - they make much better keepsakes than sugared almonds and place cards
Hayley1
they're really pretty, How did you attach the rings/lillies?
medusa
They're beautiful Emma- much nicer than I could make, and certainly much nicer than I could afford for someone else to make. My place markers were terracotta plant pots wrapped in raffia and with a growing daffodil bulb in, with the raffia threaded through a brown paper luggage tag with the name on, so everyone got to take home a piece of the table decorations and plant them in the garden for the following year. I did give out almond favours too though- they were handmade little velvet pouches made out of the same dark blue velvet as the bridesmaids' wraps, and lined with gold satin, tied with gold cord. ELSoames
Thanks for all your kind words! I used sticky dots to put them on the card and I have Royal Mail checked the cards by sending one to my mum who reported it stayed in one piece! Am of to hobbycraft to buy some small bits of card to make RSVP cards for guests to send back to us, it keeps the theme going. Trying to do all this on a budget yet not miss out on anything I would want as the bride. So far my cards have cost 40 quid for 30 cards including buying the crimping sissors and dots, glue. I'm enjoying myself so much and the cats enjoy playing with the bits thats I cut off too! Em x

Ginger_Kitty
My mum made all my cards, invites, table place settings and menu cards to match. kept her busy for quite a while. we didn't do rsvp cards for them to send back, but most went to the effort to find beautiful cards to reply with and they are all (but one) different and will look great in a memories album ( they are currently all up on the wall )

Strix
I was really dull with RSVP - some people never get around to buying cards, so we set up an email address for people to reply to. Anybody who likes sending cards did so anyway, but the ones who were likely to either need chasing or would turn up without replying managed to dash off an acceptance for us - some of them even went to the bother of applying wallpaper etc
Jchatt
Hi I started cardmaking just before my daugher told me she was getting married. I had made a few Christmas cards and she asked if I thought we could make her wedding stationary. She found a design she liked, which were over £3 each and adapted to what she wanted. It was a stitched design. We made over 120 day and evening invites, about 120 Order of Service in the same design. We enclosed reply cards but they were only white card cut up into mini cards with the word "We, Fred and Ann, are able unable to accept your invitation" etc. and were put in envelopes. This has set me on the road to cardmaking addiction and other wedding invitations. Since my daughers wedding I have made two lots of wedding invitations and just got an order for a wedding in May. I charge £1.40 to £1.80 per invite depending on design and that includes printing inserts, envelopes and putting them all togeter so all they have to is put a stamp on the envelope. Sorry didnt mean to sound like I am on a sales pitch but thought it might help others.
