jules13
I've done a few pairs of Fetching's and always have the same problem when i pick up the stitches at the side for the thumbs, i always end up with holes in them. I'm obviously not pickin them up right so what do I do? I can stitch 'em up but it doesn't look quite the same. Any suggestions? Hello by the way. I know I've not been posting lately but I do keep popping on for a quick look to see what's been happening!
Rooty
I always have little holes too, i think you're bound to as you're kinda 'pulling' at the work. Are they quite big? I had a biggish hole on one glove i did - my first i think, but since knitting 2 more pairs i don't think i've had any problems. But i too always wonder if im picking up stitches right on fetchings. I know i picked up stitches wrong on one of my socks, as when i wear them you can see through them abit on one sock and not the other but i love them anyway
gempud
Whenever I pick up stitches on socks and fetchings I always have holes. It always seems to happen because the stitches are being stretched. When I pick up stitches on flat items like for collars or button bands I never get holes as the stitches aren't being stretched to fit round the curve of a heel or a thumb like they are in socks and Fetchings. Make sense? Anyway what I usually do with Fetchings is stitch them up on the wrong side so it doesn't show through on the right side....no one else can tell, only you because you know they are there! knitbird
Knitting the stitches that you've picked up through the back loop will avoid holes, as the stitch will be twisted. Or just go over them with a tapestry needle and pull the stitches even!
