surfinjim
Me and 2 mates in a Land Rover Discovery. Got on the ferry to Calais and then stuck a pin in the map. Covered 3400 miles in 2 weeks, visiting destinations in France, Andorra, Spain, Monaco, Italy, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Belguim. Fantastic weather, several nights under the stars, lots of lager and laughs. 1 break down, 2 run ins with the law, several run ins with the locals, a throwing up contest, not eating for 2 days, and a car fire at Leicester on the way home Remember it all like yesterday. Happy Days! Jim:thumbsup:

Ousetunes
I had some great holidays as a child and we went on a cruise holiday three times. In 1975 we went on the SS Canberra and again in 1981. In between, in 1977 we went on the (original) SS Oriana. All were superb holidays but the Canberra was by far the nicer ship and 1981 was the best holiday simply because I was older (12). But my best holiday was in 1980 when we went to Miami, Florida. It was just a different world. Everything was so big and everyone you met seemed to be so polite! There was TV at breakfast time and loads of channels to choose from. We went to Kennedy Space Center and to Walt Disney World. This was stuff kids' dreams are made of. In a word: wonderful. Even flying to and from America was a delight. Huge aircraft (Boeing 747 to New York, an Airbus down to Miami). I was lucky and I plan to take my family there sometime in the next 2 or 3 years. sufc_tom
Florida, Sept 10th - 26th 2006. Me an my partner went to Orlando and was on the same flight as my mother, sister and 2 nephews however was a short drive away from each others accomodation. Ended up taking both my nephews to most of the parks and lived alot of the fun through their eyes...and also had the pleasure of eating at the 2nd best steakhouse in North America and since then have never been able to eat steak since because it was such a cut above anything I have ever eaten. Oh and I met my hero, Dr. Emmett Brown
pattricia
Mine has to be New York I was lucky enough to go round the Trade Centre.. Same here. I had gone to see my sister in Connecticut and my son said"You must go round the World Trade Centre.Id never heard of it. It lived up to my expectations, and we had a snack in the restuarant on the top floor. All these restaurant workers were killed when the twin towers came down. New York was terrific, just wished Id had time to go round Central Park, but had to give it a miss.
