hevydevy
There are lots of threads on the forum about van hire, and lots of people saying so and so were reasonable, but there isn't one with actual prices on, which means I still have to go round phoning them all up, so how much do the various companies actually charge? Well, I've been quoted two prices this morning for a transit for a day: APF : £80 + VAT for a day Burnt Tree £43, incl. VAT (plus £200 deposit) Burnt Tree you have to pay for petrol, didn't ask at the other one as it was so much more expensive anyway and I haven't got that far to go... Anyone else got any recent prices they'd like to share to make my life easier?
Ginger_Kitty
I got a transit for 24 hours a few months ago from enterprise for about £50 i think
Ptraci
Burnt Tree seems a reasonable price to me. We have a contract price at work from Arnold Clark which is a bit lower than that but not much. Check how long they keep your deposit though. I've used a company (major UK wide chain, used to be at Shalesmoor, can't remember their name ) who took the deposit from your card and didn't return it for 3 days. That way they make more out of the interest and investment fund banking than they make out of the vans. I would expect you to have to pay for petrol wherever you hire from. Becky B
Arnold Clark was the most reasonable one I found. They're also open on Sunday so you can just have it for 24 hours over a weekend. Burnt Tree are quite cheap but you have to have it for the whole weekend which makes it more expensive, if that makes sense...
hevydevy
More prices (all for a transit van for a 24 hour period) : Arnold Clarke £43 Apple Van Hire £39.98 Enterprise £57.
Goon
£43 sounds quite reasonable to me. When you get the van check it has a full tank and take it back with a full tank. (make sure you are there when they check) Also go around the van when you get it and point out any scratches or dents and make sure they note them down. That way they cannot pull a fast one if they feel so inclined. Hope this helps.
