Stormy
Piers Corbyn, director of Weather Action long-range forecasters, said the new storms would eclipse last weekend’s hurricanes, There were hurricanes last weekend? First I heard of it. I know it was windy but...

Ousetunes
Rubbish. 'They' predicted one of the coldest winters on record last year and it never happened. It bores me rigid how obsessed this country seems to be with its weather. After every news programme, national and regional, we have to have a weather forecast (often presented by some non-entity in a pukey coloured tie and plastic sense of humour). IMO, they rarely get the forecast right. And I'd have a bet this winter will be similar to those of the past ten years; mild and a bit wet. D2J
Well it must be crossing the Irish sea by now as for the past 2/3 days we have had nothing but strong winds and heavy rain
Joanl
Given that SF users are so widespread, we could have a more up to date weather report on here than any of the regional television/radio ones. There's someone in Glasgow, someone in Wales I think, me and someone else down on the South coast, someone on the East coast and someone in France that could tell us when the "weather" has left them...... Today for instance here it's lovely and sunny with a definite chill in the air. The wind is getting up again having been very blowy all night and the roads are still holding a lot of water from the heavy rain last night. See, we could track it and prepare in advance. Tony
I've heard that the Met Office insurers will shortly be insisting that forecasters wear yellow fluorescent vests while issuing the forecast.
Mandem
I wouldn't take any notice of the Express, in July the headlines said "If you thought July was hot, wait until August comes", and if you remember it rained nearly every day in August, and was quite cool some days. Sensational headlines like that are just to sell papers. At least Princess Diana isn't on the front today.!!!!
