Right i'm looking ofr somewhere that doesn't charge for the privlidge of looking for all of two seconds to make sure i've changed teh bulb on my car.

The story is i got pulled over by the police last night for a light out on the back of the car, i've now chnaged the bulb which cost 60p, to get the police form stamped is going to cost £5 when i rang my local garage, i even offered to buy all the stuff to service my car if he'd waiver the cost, he wouldn't budge.

So does anyone know of a friendly garage who doesn't charge for the two seconds work it takes to check a bulb, is working??

Because otherwise it seems wrong paying 60p for a bulb and a £5 to check it's been done!

Eh... you didn't get a producer?

I'd just go to the local nick and get the duty sergent to come and look.

£5 to check a bulb, total nonsense, seems more like a fine... which would be illegal.

I've got a producer as well, but the back of the work order (defect) form tells me it needs to be stamped by an MOT centre, but getting a police officer out to check it makes sence, if they're qualified enough to say when one isn't working then can tell when one is as well.

Well if it needs to be at a registered MOT centre then at least you have some avenue for complaint. Ask for a written reciept with a detailed breakdown of the £5.. time etc... then kick off ;)

Ive had this a couple of times over the years, not that I make a habbit of getting pulled over with defects haha, anyway if you take the car to the MOT station that tested your car they will normally do it for free. Just put new bulb in and take it to test station with your test certificate so they can see you did use them for your MOT. They have never charged me.
