Pruno, a prison wine created from fruit, sugar and ketchup, is such a vile and despicable beast in the California state penal system that prisoners can't eat fresh fruit at lunch. ....

not quite what i was thinking of my mother would turn her nose up at this although some of my friends may find it amusing

thanks anyway

I don't think you need to join to view the forums; I just don't know the actual recipe.

Ribena diluted to taste

Sugar added to increase potential alcohol content

yeast and nutrient

pectic enzyme

campden tablets for sterilising and later stabilising.

Yes, you can.

You'll probably need to boil it up to get rid of any sulphites used to preserve it, let it cool to room temperature before adding yeast and you'll need a fair amount of pectic enzyme as jam tends to have pectin added to help it set.

6kg of jam is probably enough for 2 gallons of wine.
