chickywiggle
ok - so when i was little my mum had a strip of metal pointed on the end with a stick bit part way up. you hooked one of these stick bits onto the outsdide of the can and pierced the top with the point. WHERE can I buy one from???? do they have a proper name??? They made the milk taste so much better then opening them with a can opener!!
Greybeard
Dunno if you can still buy them now, before beer cans all had ring pulls they were an essential piece of kit Have a look in Wilkinsons. They were called bottle openers, one end for de-capping bottles the other for piercing cans.

shoeshine
I would have thought they are still on sale in Co-ops or hardware shops, or even in Camping Equipment shops.

These days I have to ration my use of it for medical reasons.
