Have you had your Nectar points scammed?

Recommended Posts

I had one of those "double point" vouchers that I handed in there. I got the normal points but never got the double ones. Don't care really since it's only worth about 10p, but I wonder now if the guy nicked my extra points too? :|

I got sacked from a large supermarket for precisely this sort of thing. I knew when the printer was printing the last few lines of a customers receipt, containing their loyalty card account number, minus the last digit. All you had to do was make a note of it when you initially swiped it.

Then my mate came into the shop, bought a crate of lager and a bottle of Jack Daniels, came through my till, I keyed the number in instead of swiping it, redeem the required amount of points, the transaction goes through all above board (ish) and everyones happy (ish).

Problem was when the customer next used their card and notices £30 worth of points are missing. The supermarket look into it, realise the card was last used at my till, then redeemed at it a short time later - it didn't take a rocket scientist.

This was however a long time ago when I was only 16 and I would never dream of doing anything like it now.

I,m with TheBoyWonder on this one. Bit mardy bum bums really. See it as a perk of the job for the guy. Like others have said "If you're that bothered why not get a Nectar card". Would you not allow someone vouchers for school just because you don't or haven't gone to school?

Ive seen this before at other shops. I think I used to see it at a co-op where I used to live. I dont have a problem with it. If I cant produce a card to collect the points why shouldnt someone have them.

Because the obnoxious little twerp who served us at the local co-op isn't getting anything from us she isn't entitled to, so we always offer ours to the next person in the queue - which gets right up her snotty little nose

Sorry - I don't believe gassing to your mate (who has come in for a chat on a busy saturday morning) about what you're wearing tonight instead of concentrating on financial transactions is any way to go about your job

People who do this sort of thing don't generally have just one rule bending ruse - watch your credit card whilst you're there too :suspect:

Dishonesty isn't turned on and off you know

Surely anyone can recognise the difference between taking a few unwanted Nectar points and credit /debit card fraud.

hi

Ive just filled up with petrol at Bramall Lane

When I paid I was asked if I had a Nectar card

I said I didnt and as I was leaving the guy behind the counter picked up a card from a pile of about 30 and swiped it.

Well obviously I have no use for these not having a Nectar but I was a bit taken aback when he helped himself to mine

The more I think about it the more peeved I am

What do the rest of you think?

Deepak

It would annoy me too. I think it's bad manners.

Especially if they didn't offer to give you a receipt that would enable you to redeem the points later (as i have been offered in boots)

Just because you don't claim the points does not mean he can help himself to them.

Just thought i'de add my feelings as some people have said that you're beeing silly

Thank you!

The thing is that it was being done on such a large scale

This guy had about 30 cards

It wasnt like he was just sticking a few points on his own

And it was being done so openly I wondered that the management must know about it
