sooz22
An update for everyone who contributed to the Harley fund, he complated his mite treatment today and is looking much better for it. He has had a bath and come out two shades lighter than when he went in (the colour the water went was vile) and his coat is now free from mite debris and nice and soft, gorgeous to stroke. He is also being treated for an eye infection although this may become more long term if it ends up being the result of a dental problem, we are keeping our fingers crossed that this is not the case. Furthermore he is so muuch happier in himself and has become very demanding since he has come out of his shell. I cant wait 'til he is finally ready to bond with a new lady friend! So thank you once again to everyone who helped with Harleys treatment, he is a much happier boy for it and finally looking forward to the rest of his life. pinklady
Hi Sooz Its so nice to hear he's coming on well, can you believe that no-one has come forward to claim him (despite flyers being posted through doors and posters stuck to lamp-posts). I think the vet might have been right when he said Harley had been dumped because of high vet costs ... why do people like this get animals in the 1st place? its part and parcel of owning a pet, .. at one time or another, they'll end up costing! Has Harley got a home to go to now or are you considering keeping him yourself? I bet he's a handful now he's feeling better, he was a little .. er ... bossy when he stayed here, i can imagine him insisting on things being just so now he's up and running again. again, thanks for helping me and taking Harley off my hands, i dont know what i would have done if you hadnt!. regards Jill. TBH it hasnt surprised me that no-one has claimed him, I thought it was likely he had been dumped from the moment I set eyes on him. He's a very good boy, easy to handle and dosnt minde his eye drops one bit (helps that he cant see them coming towards his eye) but he's become a fussy little bugger and bangs on the hutch for breakfast when he hears me come out (he is still fed last while I wait for the last of the mites to die). Annoyingly he is the only one that wont eat spinach so he has to have a different meal to the others sometimes. I think the offer of a home still stands but his new lady friend needs to be neutered first, as does he. However if it dosnt work out I will keep him until I can find a suitable home, no matter how long that might be.
sooz22
Harley has had the snip today and is recooperating in the dog cage in the living room. He's not particularly happy about it but it will go along way towards insuring that he can find a suitable ladyfriend and prevent any other bunnies being born into an overpopulated society. The vets have also said he is 'middleaged' which for a rabbit is approx. 4/5 years so lets hope the second half of his life works out much better than the first. His first two offers of a home have unfortunatley fallen through.
