bagger
I was on a First bus this morning and they had their timetable of services over the festive period on a poster. It stated that there would be NO buses on Boxing Day:confused: Is this usual? I'm sure they were running last Boxing Day as my husband went to the football. Anyone know anything about this? ChrisTodd
Most shops are open on Boxing Day so not having any buses seems strange as there will be plenty of people wanting, and needing, a bus.
Heyesey
It's many years now since any buses ran on Boxing Day around here. Trams run to and from Hillsborough, if Wednesday are at home; other than that, I don't think we have any public transport whatsoever. They haven't caught on yet to shops opening on the 26th, not the 27th, to begin their sales.
Heyesey
Correction on the tram service for Boxing Day: "Reduced Sunday service on blue / yellow routes operating between 10:00 and 18:00hrs."
bagger
Thanks for that information:D Sheffield United are playing at home on the 26th. Must've imagined that the buses were running last year.
ruthie~
what about the people who have to work, the many hundreds of people who work in the care industry. the old ladies and gentlemen in the nursing homes, people in hospital's and any one else who needs help and support 24hours a day. they still need their support workers to arrive on xmas day, boxing day to help them get up and cook them their festive lunch. Please can everyone think of both the carers and the people themselves while you are sat at home on those "oh, so important days"

Please can everyone think of both the carers and the people themselves while you are sat at home on those "oh, so important days" Calm down! I used to work in a residential home myself. Had to get a taxi to and from work over the festive period, not ideal but it was just my tough luck. And as for the 'oh so important days', I'm sure most of us do think of those less fortunate while we are 'sat at home'.
Andy C
I would like to think those care workers who don't have a car have a taxi paid for by their employers on Christmas day and boxing day.
