fox20thc
As you are all aware over the last week or so we have had some 'issues' on Winn Gardens. Not an estate renown for being a wealthy area I was astonished at the doorknocking happening on here yesterday. Lots of older residents have actually already bought their properties but alot cant afford to or like me wouldnt on principle. So woman knocks on my door proclaiming that there has been a change in the government policy on right to buy and she can help me buy my house. Not wanting a big debate on the issue I just said "I can't I have rent arrears" as I know this is one reason the council will use to stop a purchase. "doesnt matter" she said. "erm... Im a single parent on a low income" "doesnt matter" "Im on benefits" "irrelevant, if you have £180 coming in you can buy this house" "I don't then, please go away, if I wanted someone to finance any debt at extortionate rates and convince me to purchase my council house, which on principle I will not do. I would go to a mortgage lender, please go away" She got in a right strop and stropped to the pensioner next door who is on benefits and definately didnt meet the criteria. Cyclone
Sounds pretty dodgy. You've interested me though, what is the principle on which you won't take advantage of the right to buy?
fox20thc
I don't agree with it. The council are not able to reinvest the money in new housing stock, the number of available council houses drops and then we get yet another thread on how the council are gits for not having enough houses and by the way of course it will all be the fault of immigrants. *Turbo*
Keep away from her. Whatever company she works for then if they are that flexible with the history you provided them with then you are certainly going to pay a HIGH amount!!!!
