Stuck in Poland - no flights due to fog!!

Recommended Posts

Hello

I should be back in Sheffield now and we are stuck n Poland! Came here for a holiday on Friday and we were due to fly home on Monday but all flights have been cancelled into and out of Krakow. Had a bit of a scary few hours while we waited at the Easyjet desk, hoping we would a) get on a new flight and b) get a hotel. They booked us onto tonight's so we just had a restless few days back our our original hotel (credit card jobbie) but now we have heard that today's flgihts are cancelled.

I am not ashamed to say I have cried. Itis so horrible being stuck out here when you just want to go home. We are gonna struggle to find a room tonight and there is such a backlog of stranded Brits here, gtting on any flgiht when the fog lifts will be a mission in itself. Thank God I like the person I'm here with! I can't thin of anyone else I'd rather be stuck with as she is being so strong and positive.

Apparently, flgihts all over Europe are affected - anyone else been caught up in it? Shall we start a campaign t get the Brits home?? x x

I'm sure if you contact the Foreign Office in London, or, failing that, the British Embassy in Warsaw, they will soon arrange to have all the fog cleared away.

Yes, it must be pretty scary, stuck in a wild, unknown country like Poland-----reminds one of the last war and all that. You would think the pilots would have a little bit more bottle and take the risk, wouldn't you? What's a bit of fog when Blighty calls?

Anyway, I'm sure plenty of people on S.F. will want to send you lots of hugs in your hour of need, so, nil desperandum.

Krakow airport is prone to fog. They also have a problem in that they only have a low standard of landing safety equipment. The plane which was due to take you home probably cannot risk landing at the airport. Very often they have to divert to Catowice which is an hour's drive from Krakow.

Last year our flight couldn't land due to fog, but it cleared by the time we departed.

Hey C!

Been told about your plight by your very lucky friend ;) Hope it all works out for you.

We were due to have some Polish colleagues over for a meeting today. They should have flown from Warsaw yesterday, but were old there was no way they'd be flying yesterday or today, due to the fog.

Keep smiling, and if all else fails, hit the Vodka!!!

Oh no!!!!! Can't believe you're still stuck there chick. Did you get my text earlier? What you gonna do now? Are they being at all helpful at the airport? Have they booked you onto another flight? God I really did have a lucky escape didn't I... Am so glad that you've got Chris cause she's so calm and practical in these situations. And it's such a shame because we had such a lovely holiday, but now it's being ruined for you. :(

Is there anything I can do from here? Maybe look up hotels on the net for you or ring Easy Jet?

Lots and lots of love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
