Self catering accomodation that accepts dogs in Rotherham/Sheffield areas?

Recommended Posts

I need to find out if there is anyone who knows anywhere in the Rotherham/Sheffield area that offers self catering accomodation and also allows dogs.

I will need somewhere for approximately three days in around three weeks time and will need to bring my two dogs as I do not want to kennel them.

Thank You,

Joanne.

all travelodges do - or did you have something else in mind?

For eating we have a thread called 'good dog pubs with food' kicking about somewhere

What's bringing you to Sheffield? :)

PS - you may like to know we have a pets forum on here too ;)

Strix,

Thanks for your advice on Travelodge accomodation, I will have a look on their website this evening when I get home.

I had a quick look at an old Travelodge brochure last night and saw that there is one on the main A57 a couple of miles outside Sheffield which would be ideal as we will be travelling mainly into Rotherham and Sheffield.

You asked what was bringing me to Sheffield?

Well it's a long story, but my boyfriend lives in South Yorks and we are trying to sort a legal problem out that is of concern to both of us, therefore I need to come down for a few days to get it sorted.

Thank you once again Strix,

Joanne.

Travelodge charge £10 per stay for your dog - which works best if you're staying for a couple of days at least ;)

You can't add them into your booking on the website, but I usually book an early bargain on the internet, then phone the relevant travelodge direct to inform them of the dog in our party. If you do this with enough notice they can usually make sure you get a room near the door (if your dogs need to be in and out quite alot), or at the far end of a corridor away from people trampling past your door if they tend to vocal with unfamiliar noises

Please remember to clear up after your dogs if you're excercising them in the grounds - I've yet to see a Travelodge without dog bins - as most hotels' solution to complaints about dogs is to cease to allow dogs :(

Travelodge Richmond is probably older than the one in the City Centre, but I have no idea when it was last refurbed, and I do not know if parking for the city centre one is free.

Good luck with your trip - I had a read of your other posts ;)

If it is necessary to leave your dogs at all, I'd recommend Marshalls at Fence (not too far away from where you're intending to stay either  )

If you don't fancy traipsing about looking for a pub that will allow your dogs to dine with you, there's a massive Asda Walmart less than a mile from Travelodge Richmond, with spit roasted chickens etc, just remember to take some crockery with you if you're going for this option ;)

Some of the Little Chefs adjacent to Travelodges will allow a dog owner to take their crockery off site when purchasing a meal (if you're a travelodge guest), but it really depends on the manager on duty at the time :(

Strix,

Thank you for all the help you have given.

Please don't think I was being rude and not replying to you earlier. It's just that a virus has appeared in the computer and we have been trying sort that out.

What do they say, 'It never rains when it pours'!

Will let you know whats what when in a couple of days.

Joanne.

Oh, not at all :)

I've had to work away from home with a dog in tow, and know only too well how impossible the logistics can be ;)

Good dogwalking land is to be had at the back of the airport if you stay at the travelodge in richmond. from the TL, head for the M1, but come off for the airport. Park anywhere on the grass verge on the left. there are a few access points/footpath entrances. walk back the way you drove in, and you'll come back alongside the parkway, alongside a golf course, and behind the airfield. map

You could also explore the shirebrook valley at woodhouse. set out in the direction of the M1, but don't actually join the parkway - stay on the sliproad which runs along it and off again (signposted B6200 and nowhere :suspect: ). go right around the roundabout at the bottom of the sliproad so you double back on yourself. turn left at the top. head up the A57 for one junction then left into woodhouse. take an immediate right into stone lane. there's a carpark a little way up - near the nature reserve. Map
