_Kirsty_
When I'm walking, say for example, from the bus stop home after work and I see a gang of teenagers on the same side of the road as me, i tend to cross over to the opposite side... I dont think theyr going to beat me up or anything, i just do it to avoid trouble, incase they want to cause an arguement... anything like that. Its the same when i see them stood outside a shop I want to go in- i hesitate whether to go in or not. I think its the look of them that does it, with the hoods up, scarves halfway up their head, spliffs in one hand and a can of whatever in the other hand. Im 19 and so im not that much older than them (unless this is what 20+yr olds do nowadays?)- yet i still dont like to walk near them because they appear quite intimidating. Anybody else have this problem or am I just being a wuss?
Green Web
Be very aware! All young teenagers are their ready to attack you over the slightest thing, also people who are slightly tanned looking are a terrorist always ready to kill thousands of people, according to most of the media anhow. foxycoxy
I agree with you Kirsty - I dont like it either - especially when it is dark. But I usually just remind myselves that they aren't going to stop me going where I want to go. I just keep my head down and keep walking!!

Realy? call the police then, underage drinking and smoking dope are both criminal offences. Unless you just added that for dramatic effect. You telling me you have never seen teenagers out on the streets drinking and smoking?!
Cyclone
Behaving like you do probably puts you in more danger than ignoring them.

I have, but if it bothered me (which it doesn't) I'd call the police and get something done about it.

Cyclone
Because they see you cross the road to avoid them, they see you hesitate outside the shop. Most gangs of kids/teens are just handing about with their mates and have no interest in you at all, but if you happy to be unlucky and find the one gang that's full of bullies or trouble causes who are looking for a victim, you may as well have just put a hand up and said "please pick me to do something to". Defensive behaviour when none is required just marks you out as a potential victim because you are clearly already intimidated and scared just by the fact that these people are standing around. If you act like they are inconsequential, beneath notice even, they probably won't pick on you, if you're clearly not scared of them then they won't take the risk that you're not scared for good reason (like having a gun, being a cop or having 15 dan grades and being a cage fighter in your spare time). _Kirsty_
So how about when theres that many gang of kids walking towards you, that you HAVE to move out of the way?! I started this thread asking if anyone felt intimidated, not whether I was doing the right thing crossing the road. I'd rather cross the road than walk through a gang of kids.
