Big_gun_boy
Noticed yesterday that the Manchester Arms has been re-named The Harlequin. Reminded me of our friday night pub crawls. The Lion, The Big Gun, New Yellow Lion. The Harlequin (Origional site, not the new one), The Viaduct, The Station, Planters Bar, (In the Victoria hotel. We used to walk up the stairs, now fenced off next to the arches). Then the Bull and Oak. The Brown Cow and The boulogne. And maybe venture up to the Marples and the Claymore. Always finished up in the Big Gun. Must have been in there hundreds of times, but only went in the best side twice.
Meaks
The Big Gun is probably the only one left with its name. Harlequin (new) and the Riverside (Brown Cow) are still going.
Jabberwocky
I used to love boozing there, the station was brilliant. Anyone remember Joker?

Brown Cow was next to the old Studio 7. Both been knocked down now.

Meaks meant the Brown Cow which was on Mowbray Sreet, now called the Riverside, not the old Stones' house on the Wicker .......
skippy
Best pub around there was the Hare & Hounds on Nursery St in 1960, Fridays & Sat nights were like talent night with the people getting up to sing along with the piano, great memories. Texas
The thread starter list of pubs brings back memories, some great old establishments there. The Big Gun was one of the most unspoilt Victorian pubs in Sheffield I've ever been in. That and the Blue Boar on West Bar. I'm still having trouble placing the Harlequin though, I swear I've been in there, but I must've been canned. Was it on one of those lanes back of the Holy Trinity Church? Somebody got it placed around the corner from the Manchester on Nursery Street, but I cant vizualise it somehow.

What was the name of the Pub in the 70's with a Minor Bird that used to shout out "where 's Audry" and they used to have a gigantic St Bernard Dog ?...it was near the Wicker but I don't remember the name

It had a little pot bellied stove in one room (there were three), and a mural painted on the way out to the outside bogs. Best pint of Wards in Sheffield. only_me
I used to love boozing there, the station was brilliant. Anyone remember Joker? I to thought the station was a great pub especially lively on disco nights. I seem to remember a black fella called Joker.
