fox20thc
My son chats to his grandma on MSN (he'd kill me for saying that)
Cyclone
Don't most children have mobile phones these days? Are parents worried about random people phoning them up? MSM is just the same, why would you want to talk to a stranger who'd just phoned or msm'd you.
mr chris
http://messenger.msn.com/Help/LearnMore.aspx Scrolling about halfway down the page there's a section on parental controls in MSN messenger. Combine that with the earlier post about keeping kids safe on MSN and you should be fine. However, keep him on a tight leash! Make sure he only has friends on his friends list and doesn't add anyone new without your permission. He's only 10 years old - he needs to earn his freedom! lol
ladyB
I don't see why not. But I'd limit his usage on it to a few hours a week, and only after he's done his schoolwork etc.. Could be an incentive for him. V. good point!!!! I can use it like I do the playstation, impliment a ban if he pushes the boundries.. as far as phones go I agree anyone can phone him up but the plus side to MSN is that it's free to chat.. sticking with the phone thang for a second, should we be letting them have phones so young????I must admit I would feel much better if i thought I could contact him however I would worry about bigger lads trying to nick it off him. Cyclone
I think it's more reasonable for a 10 year old to have an msm account on the home pc than to have a mobile phone.
