commuter
does anyone know where I can get proper German brezels in or at least near Sheffield? I have a real craving for them and it would remind my family of home. Failing that does anyone have a foolproof recipe? I've tried to make them before but failed to date. Bago
I'm not sure what they are. I know there's a German market in Manchester near this time of the year. I've not come across many continental shops in Sheffield. Apart from Italian delis, of course.
cgksheff
We would more likely know them as pretzels. Not the small snacks in packets, but hand-sized bread. We have occasionally found them at the delicatessen in Castle Market that sells a variety of wurst etc. Otherwise, find a friendly truck driver! There are a few companies that run daily between here & Germany. We usually make payment in "Tea".
Escafeldia
Try Lidl or Aldi they both have plenty of German originating stuff in their stores . On the other hand go into any Supermarket and ask for "Pretzels" and I think you'll find they are one and the same thing. You can get "Mini" ones in packs and some of them stock the full sized jobs.
