Hmmm... What to do for thanksgiving in Sheffield...

Does **anywhere** in this city celebrate Thanksgiving & do proper dinners? My version of Sweet Potato Pie is so :gag::hihi: :hihi:

It would be rather foolish of us to celebrate a custom that was started in America in the 19th century (officially) and has nothing to do with England.

Okay... So, it's basically potatoes smothered in sugar and vanilla ... stick it in the oven 'til it goes brown and volia!!!! ...

 

Except it so does not turn out the way Grandma makes them :huh:

you always try Mcdonalds or the american style diner in the mall.my mother had the same problem years ago trying to send me a card in the states.The pilgrims were celebrating a new life away from England.Go figure.

Oh, thats the reason then.If youre LA born & bred,youre a little homesick.!I have relatives in America and they all hate Thanksgiving Day as its too near Christmas.They cook a turkey for Thanksgiving ,then have to cook one again for Christmas.
