lolmob
I remember my mum and gran saving as many pennies and ha`pennies as they could for ages ( it seemed ) until it finally came, the day of the Raggers. There were lots and lots of the most brilliantly decorated floats, with an endless amount of themes, and we`d crowd along West Street,to see them all go past. We`d throw our pennies and ha`pennies at the floats, and some of the Raggers would walk along the road, or mingle in the crowd, with buckets for collecting any spare change that anyone might have. It was all for charity, I loved it, and hated it. I used to be so excited when I knew it was "the" day, yet so scared when I saw the Raggers dressed up in all their costumes, well, I was very young
artisan
One stunt I always remember is the one about the climbing expidition up The Moor, the started off saturday morning, and spent the day 'scaling' the pavement. They had full rock climbing gear, and gave it a mighty effort:D
lolmob
Ooh, there you are I knew there had to be at least one other person that remembered them I also remember making sure I didn`t stand too close to the front, as they always "kidnapped " someone for the day, ransom money going to charity of course. I was always so scared that it might be me that they got. It was never gonna happen of course, but hey, I was just a kid
