MissGobby
I was thinking of getting my car re-sprayed - i dont like the colour and would love it to be painted black - not wanting to pay much though - does anyone know of anyone/anywhere that does this, if so, where and how much?? cheers
Stormy
Its not cheap im afraid. I had to get my car resprayed metallic silver down the rear passenger door, front pssenger and bonnet (though it did involve some minor panel beating) and it set me back (after shopping around and haggling) about £250. Obviously for a full respray you'll have to get the drivers side and roof done as well. And bumpers if you want them the same colour... Best way to find somewhere is to search for "bodyshops in sheffield" or something similar on google and ring loads of companys for a quote. SupraSteve
To paint an entire car, for a proper job a car enthusiast (& perfectionist) like me would be happy with, £2k+ I'm afriad It will depend on the car, to a degree. A smaller car might be less, a car that's easier to mask off and rquires less prep work will also be slightly less, but at the end of the day, it's a professional's job and requires highly skilled people and expert equipment (they bake the paint on! ) so you get what you pay for. SupraSteve
Stormy, was that was accident/damage repair & a respray in the original colour? It sounds like it was. (I forgot to say that a change of colour will cost more than this type of work.)

D2J
Doesn't re-spraying a different colour de-value the car as well?
SupraSteve
Doesn't re-spraying a different colour de-value the car as well? Two factors are at play here mate; 1 - a non 'stock' colour will be less desirable as it'll be slightly harder to get any damage repaired because of matching the colour. An enthusiast might appreciate it, but that's obviously a smaller market, so you're less likely to find a buyer in the first place. These points are especially true if you go for a very specialisd paint job. 2 - how desirable is that colour, on that car? Red Supras are worth slightly less than all the other colours for example, as most people think it's not as nice a colour. Obviously if you go for a shocking pink on any car it'll be worth jack...
