Umeeksk
ta chick.. have you heard whats happening at ww tonight? I think it's fair to say they didn't take any prisoners! They heckled Harry Harpham and Jonathan Crossley-Holland mercilessly - did the slow hand clap and everything - and not one person stood up and supported the plans in the whole two hours. There were some extraordinarily eloquent and persuasive speakers - some really spoke from the heart and brought a tear to the eye. Most of the people speaking sounded like they felt utterly betrayed and didn't trust an officer or councillor in the room. One bloke said "it's very easy to create a bad school and very, very hard to create a good one" - spot on imo. A couple of the current Wisewood kids got up and said their piece, and they were dead against it - very effective I thought. Oh, and there was a MASSIVE protest outside with banners and placards, cars honking their horns - one banner simply said "DON'T MOVE - IMPROVE" which is about as succinctly as I'd heard it summed up. I felt really proud of all of the people that turned up and made their voices heard tonight.
fox20thc
I saw the article in the Star and for a minute was concerned it had degenerated into a free for all. Glad to hear it didnt. Is PAM planning to attend all the consultations then?
jez449
Its good to see that the momentum against the merger is growing after a slowish start. Everyone spoken to in the Hillsborogh area seems to be against it but have not attended meetings in force until last night - even then Mr Harpham refeered to the attendance as a 'small group'! Aim has to be for everyone who attended yesterday's meeting to take at least one person with them to the next meeting they attend.
